Mission: Nibiru
Location: Earth Orbit/Kansas

"I've missed that sight," Cassandra sighed from her seat on the bridge. On the viewscreen, Earth rotated placidly, the familiar colors of the Federation's Capitol peeking out under wisps of clouds.

Camille smiled as she took in the sight of home. "I've come to prefer planets where I can examine new life forms," Camille admitted. But then her smile widened further. "But there is no place like home, is there?"

Nicole tilted her head. "The water's a bit blue. Should be more teal in my opinion."

"It's supposed to be blue," Penny said, staring longingly at the Pacific. "The bluiest blue that ever blued."

"Pretty sure at least two of those weren't actual words," Meesa said.

"No, that sounds about right," Camille said, giving Penny a playful nudge. "Bluiest blue that ever blued."

"Essstablishing geossstationary orbit over Kansasssss," Jasmine hissed. "We have beamdown coordinatessss."

"Excellent," Tiffany said. "Guests first to the transporter room."

Cassandra jumped up and hurried to the lift, her dress fluttering in the breeze. Penny was hot on her heels, clapping with excitement. Nicole leaped out of her chair and grabbed Camille's hand, heading for the turbolift as well and jumping in before the doors closed. Moments later they were scrambling down the corridor to the transporter room to find Tiffany had transferred there ahead of them. "Ready to beam down."

They quickly stepped onto the transporter pad and Tiffany tapped the console. "Energizing," she said. A flash of light and they were standing in the fresh spring air.

The sky was a clear blue, the sun was shining warmly on their shoulders and the corn was sure high. The massive farmhouse in front of them was picturesque with a fresh coat of paint on the shutters, bright green lawn in front, a white picket fence around it and large fields behind it. A long path from their position led to the front door and the plants were blowing in the breeze. They approached the front of the house slowly.

"Aw, c'est jolie!" exclaimed Camille, a look of awe on her face as she stared at the beautiful environment.

"It's so peaceful and quiet," Penny said.

"Too quiet," Nicole said, worried.

That's when the attack began. It was sudden and swift and merciless. They were all bombarded simultaneously from all sides. Projectiles flew and struck with unforgiving accuracy, and any attempt to deflect them caused them to bounce away but curve in midair and come around for another attack.

Nicole caught one of the objects and held it up, confused. "A rubber ball?" she said, before another one slammed into her temple. She stumbled but was surprised to hear Cassandra laughing. Finally, Cass raised her hand and a shock of violet energy left her, spreading over them like a cocoon and shielding them from the onslaught.

"No fair!" an oddly young-sounding voice called out from some hidden vantage point. "That's cheating!" shouted another.

"Very well," Cassandra said, trying to sound defeated. "We surrender. Name your terms."

"Cookies!" the voices shouted.

Cassandra stood up and put her hands out. Violet pentagrams formed above her palms, spinning until they reformed into round, brown, flecked discs. "As you wish!" she shouted.

The gate in the back fence flew open and two lithe little forms sprinted across the lawn, grabbing the cookies and jumping up and down with excitement. Cass knelt down and scooped both children up, kissing them on their cheeks, their necks, their foreheads, any place she could reach, while the two of them squealed with joy.

She finally returned them to the ground and they stood by dutifully, munching on their cookies. Their faces were almost heart-shaped and mostly human-looking. The boy's hair was light brown, while the girl's hair was blonde and they had the usual bipedal design, but their cat-like eyes looking up at the adults gave away their Cygnian heritage.

"Ladies, may I introduce Trevor and Megara, my ring bearer and flower girl," Cass said.

Camille giggled as she watched the interaction between Cassandra and the kids. She gave them both a little wave.

Trevor let out a growl and bared his teeth.

"Trevor!" Cassandra scolded, tapping him on the head. "Why did you do that?"

"Because I'm the ring bear," he said, confused by her anger. "I was practicing."

Cassandra stifled a laugh and scooped him up again, kissing him. "We'll discuss your technique later," she said. She dropped him to the ground and he moved by his sister, eating his cookie contentedly as slender woman approached them, smiling. Her cat-like eyes darted over all of them as she walked up to Cassandra. Cass grinned and walked to meet her, holding her arms out. They hugged quickly and bowed slightly to each other, their foreheads touching briefly before they stepped back.

"Welcome home, Cassandra," the Cygnian woman said calmly, smiling.

"Thank you, Mirana," Cassandra said, smiling. "These are my friends," she said, gesturing to the others. "Doctors Nicole Anderson and Camille Lévesque, and Lieutenant Penelope Naroot. The rest of the guests should be arriving shortly."

"Good," Mirana said. "There's also someone here to see you."

The jewel in Cassandra's headband glowed suddenly, and she spun around to see a man walking up to her. She let out a squeak and rushed up to him, leaping into the air and grabbing him. He held her tightly, swinging her around and kissing her deep. She kissed him back and the wave of pure energy that came off of them made everyone watching physically shake from the pure, raw emotional overload that assaulted their souls--except Penny, of course, who appreciated the sight, nonetheless.

Cassandra was home and in Richard's arms. Mission accomplished.
