Getting Physical

Posted on Sat Mar 14, 2020 @ 6:39pm by Fleet Captain Rhea Kennit & Lieutenant Commander Miguel Torres

3,210 words; about a 16 minute read

Mission: Nibiru
Location: High Grav Gym
Timeline: During the ‘quiet dinner’

Miguel was in the high gravity gym, a special gym that had been designed to help those from worlds that had a higher gravity then Earth norm. With his unique physiology it was easier for him to come here for a good workout than to use the normal gym on the ship. It was strange that the gym was empty, usually there was one or two Vulcans since they didn't sleep much. But he didn't mind the solitude since it allowed him to push himself without worrying about disturbing anyone else with all the grunting he was doing as he pushed his body to it's limits as he performed an inclined bench press.

Leaning against the hatchway frame, just outside of the altered gravity threshold the Captain shook her head. “Determined to need to upsize your uniform..or just slightly sadistic and you enjoy suffering..” she called out.

Miguel had been so caught up in what he was doing that he hadn't noticed the door open. The sound of the Captain's voice actually had startled him a bit. He quickly refocused and completed the movement and placed the bard back on it's perch and then deactivated the gravity unit inside. He got up and and drank some water and wiped the sweat off his forehead. "Maybe a bit of both." he was finally able to say to her.

“You make me feel tired just watching..” she commented.

"Tired... you?" he asked. "I didn't know you getting tired was possible." he said with a hint of laughter in his voice.

“Happens all the time..” she retorted.

"Sounds like you need to work on your endurance." he teased since he knew with her implants she could go longer than anyone on the ship... including him.

“Maybe I’m just getting old..” she answered.

He raised his eyebrow and lowered his head slightly as he looked at her. "Yeah right I believe that one." he said. "I bet you won't have that problem at least for another 200 years."

“I am old.” the Captain said. “Older than I look. Older than my years. Too much noise up here..” she added, tapping her temple with one finger.

"Why does that sound like a few old 20th or 21st century science fiction serials." he said trying to maker feel a bit better.

"The difference is that those were just stories crafted up for entertainment. I have memories, personalities, histories and knowledge implanted into my brain that is always there.. it's easy to get lost." she told him.

"The knowledge part doesn't sound to bad." he told her. "But I can see how the memories and personalities could make things.... difficult." he stated.

She just smiled a little, adding a shrug of the shoulder. “So what had you so captivated in here this time?”

"Nothing really... just the first time in awhile I had the room to myself and could just let it all out." he told her. "What brings you by?"

She shrugged, “Some vague idea about getting some exercise in but after watching you.. I’m tired now.”

For some reason he gave her a quick look over, then a nod of approval. "Somehow I doubt that was enough to tire you out." he said. Then a questioning look came over his face. "How long have you been watching?" he asked.

“Long enough to get tired..” she told him.

He chuckled. "Sounds like you need to work on your cardio if that tired you out."

“Nah..” she answered. “I’m good.”

"That you are..." he whispered, not immediately realizing he had said that out loud. "Uhm so how come you didn't go to that launch party?" he asked her.

“Because I’ve already suffered enough in this life, no sense in deliberately causing myself more agony. Contrary to Dr. Anderson’s beliefs, I’m not that much of a sadist.” Came her reply. “I could ask you the same question.. why aren’t you down there?”

"Not really into the whole costume thing..." he said. "I can never figure out what to wear to them." he added.

Leaning against the bulkhead, after a moment in which she made a show of looking him over, she said “Pink bunny suit. Big one. With a fluffy tail.”

"Yeah...." he said while shaking his head in the negative. "Had to do that once, lost a bet. Never doing that again." he told her.

Shaking her head she said “Oh no. No you don’t get to drop a nugget like that and not divulge details. Spill.”

He smiled "That my dear Captain is a secret that I will take to my grave. And before you try and check there is no documented evidence of it anywhere, and unfortunately the other's that were involved are no longer with us." he told her.

Raising one eyebrow, she said “Is that a challenge?”

"Nope... just a fact." he told her. "As such no need for you to waste time looking for it."

She laughed, “Oh if I wanted I would have the answer within a day.”

"Sounds to me like you don't have enough to do, if you're so interested in that." he told her.

“I’m the Captain. That’s what I have my XO for. To do all the work.” She retorted as she stepped into the gym space and picked up a 200 lb weight with one hand, not showing any indication of strain in the effort.

He watched for a bit and then nodded. "Not bad, you got the form down. You should turn on the heavy gravity to see how that goes." he told her.

“I’d need someone to spot me.” She answered.

"Then I guess you're lucky that I'm here and that I live to serve." he said as he positioned himself to spot her.

She snorted a quick laugh at that, "oh dear.. making remarks like that about how you live to serve is going to get me killed by that cosmic bolt of lightning coming for you..."

She leaned back into position on the weight lifting bench, adjusted her position and grip for a moment then easily lifted the weight.

Once she had gotten into position he watched her form to make sure everything was alright. He was close enough to help her if she should need it. "You can turn on the heavy gravity at any time." he told her as he kept an eye on her.

Rolling her eyes, she said “Computer, initiate gravity 1.5 time Earth normal.” A chime indicated compliance and she hefted the weight again, muscles flexing smooth and easily, handling the change with ease.

Miguel could tell that she wasn't struggling so he just looked to make sure that her form was correct, which it was perfect. "I thought you said you were strong, I could do that in my sleep." he teased her.

She rolled her eyes, “Oh..okay.” Giving an order, she had the gravity field modified to the same level he’d used.

She felt the shift for a moment, her body adapting to the shift swiftly. She never broke her motion as she lifted the weight, muscles flexing with controlled strength provided by the enhancement given by the Borg tech.

"So this enhanced strength is always active or do you need to activate it when you need to?" he asked as he watched and admired.

“The implants are blended into my muscle fibers, my bone. It simply is.” She answered. If the increased gravity was bothering her, she gave no indication of it.

"In may ways not unlike my... enhancements are within me." he stated as he continued monitoring. "Just how strong are you anyway?"

She cast a glance up at him, her eyes holding a sparkle of amusement. Then, she answered “Strong enough.”

Miguel chuckled. "I only ask in order to see what level you'd need to actually push you to your limits." he told her. "Computer raise the difficulty another level." he said as he placed his hands closer just in case she needed his help.

Her eyes glimmered with amusement, and she shifted her hold then with her right hand, scratched the tip of her nose while easily lifting the weight bar balancing it with her left.

"Show off." he said and then to test her he decided to tickle her in that spot that he knew, though probably shouldn't know about.

At his expression she said, “what? Oh right...both hands.” Taking hold of the weight bar she said, “Sorry. Nose itched.”

"Alright you win..." he said with a chuckle.

“Usually do.” She answered. “Perks of the job.”

"Well you obviously don't need to come to the gym to work on your strength. I doubt you need it for your endurance. So why did you come here?" he asked her.

“Just because I am a little stronger than I look, doesn’t mean I don’t need to maintain my fitness level.” She answered pertly.

"And how do you manage to do that with your nanites compensating?" he asked. His hands hadn't moved from their position as he watched her. they were currently at around 5 times Earth gravity which was his upper limit of not just strength but his endurance which is what he had been working out in the last six months to get his body into it's current condition.

“Nanites need to experience a situation in order to adapt. I’ve been shot by more types of phaser weaponry and disrupter weapons than I can count as well.” She pointed out.

"Then tell me what do you normally do to increase your endurance?" he asked her.

“I’m doing it. Forcing my system to adapt..”

He took a moment to look and gave a half shake of his head. "It doesn't look like it...." he said. "Looks like you're doing this easily with no effort."

“Looks can be deceiving...especially where I am concerned..” she told him.

"I've known you long enough to know that." he commented.

She laughed at that. “Slender, petite little female to be protected. Who can break just about anyone in half and not break a sweat, or a nail doing it.”

"I doubt even without you're nanoprobes you would ever be considered in need of protection." he said. in his mind however he was thinking about how he always found her to be frustrating, stubborn... and in the end magnificent. He also hadn't noticed that he had gotten closer to her.

“”Years of training with 31 ..” she said softly. “They turn you into a weapon..or they kill you. Then the Borg. And.. now... they are afraid of me. That’s why I’m here now, instead of home enjoying the Italian sun. And they should be afraid.” she added in a slightly cold voice. “After all. I’m a monster of their own creation..”

"Oh you wouldn't know what to do with yourself if you had to stay on Earth much longer." he told her. "You need to be out here hoping star systems like me. Oh you can do it for awhile, just like I did when you came and got me on New Bajor. I enjoyed building that colony, but I wouldn't have enjoyed it for long and you were right then and I'm right now."

“Your experience with Starfleet, and mine..are different. I’m tired. I’m tired of the darkness... I want sunlight again.” she replied.

Why he moved the way he did, he had no idea. But at that moment he found himself wrapping his arms around her pulling her close to him and kissing her.

He had the unique experience of feeling the strength in her slender frame, her body tensing hard and powerful in his arms for an instant before she relaxed slightly, allowing him to pull her close against his chest. Her arms rose to drape across his shoulders, returning the kiss for a long moment.

He had no idea why he had done it, and at that moment he didn't much care. He was to busy enjoying the feel of the kiss, and the feel of her in his arms. The next thought that had entered his mind was why hadn't he done this before.

The embrace lasted for several long moments before they at last separated. Looking intently at him, she said only “What was that?”

"A kiss." he said straight forward. But in truth he wasn't sure yet why he had done it, but it felt right.

She just stared at him for a moment, “Yeah I got that.. not what I meant and you know it.”

"Did you not enjoy it?" he asked her.

“Did I..”. She started to echo and then she instead reached one hand to the back of his neck, pulled him close and kissed him again, deeply.

His arms had wrapped around her, caressing her as he accepted her kiss and returned it. After another long exchange he pulled back slightly. "You know I've never kissed a Captain... much less a Fleet Captain." he said with a smile.

“That’s a really..weird response.” She answered.

"Well I am a weird guy." he told her. "Maybe I should have added I wouldn't mind doing that again and again." he added.

“After all the years we’ve know one another.. you never so much as seemed to notice I am indeed female and now suddenly this?” she answered, though she hadn’t extricated herself from his embrace.

"Well first things first, I've always noticed. Just never said anything because I either worked for you or you were otherwise involved." he answered as his hands continued to roam around her back.

Her lips pursed slightly as she considered his words, left hand trailing fingertips down his chest. An action which normally would not be see. As a potential threat, but with her..the twin tubules in her hand capable of punching through his body with ease.. the threat was there, as it was in nearly any interaction with her. Intentional or not. “You work for me now..” Rhea at last pointed out.

"I just meant that was a factor in the past." he told her. "Guess I don't care about that part anymore." he added.

“No?” came her simple response.

It seemed more like a question than a response. So he replied in his own way and gave her another kiss and as he did so squeezed her rear with one of his hands. "Of course if you have a problem with this just let me know." he told her after finally breaking the latest kiss.

She looked at him, one of the very few people still in her life who had been part of that life before. Before Section 31. Before the Borg. Before she’d become who and what she was now. “You sure you want to tangle with the darkness that clings to me no matter what I do?” she asked quietly.

Miguel chuckled. "What's that old saying... even in the darkest of times there is a small glimmer of hope that will light ones way? I've known you for a long time, I've seen what follows you and I'm still here. It doesn't scare me." he told her.

“All those muscles have stolen all the oxygen to your brain.” She retorted. “It terrifies me.”

"”Not possible, not in the design." he replied.

“Just not allowed to show it, the programming overpowers weaknesses such as fear..” Kennit countered.

"Actually I was talking about my design." he said with a smile as he continued to hold her close. "So what now?" he asked her.

“I don’t know. You still have your hand on my ass.” she retorted.

"True, guess it just amazes me how well it fits in my hands." he told her. "Also you haven't... broke my arms yet either."

A sound rose from her throat, almost a purr, more of a low growl at the same time. “Is that what you want?” Kennit asked him. “For me to break your arms?”

"No broken bones..." he said as he gave her rear a squeeze. "So my dear Captain, should we perhaps take this some where else to... discuss things further and where we can't be caught by any of the crew?"

One eyebrow rose at that, “What did you have in mind Commander?”

"Well if it's not too forward, your room or mine?" he said giving her a playful smile as well as returning her raised eyebrow with one of his own.

She kissed him again, smiled and said “I have the larger space..and a real shower.”

"This is true. Go there and I'll meet you shortly." he said as he finally peeled himself away from her and began to put the equipment that they had used away and reset the gravity controls of the room to normal 1 g. A few minutes later he was at her quarters pressing the door chime to request entry.

After a moment, the door opened to allow him entry. The Captain stood just inside the door, watching as he entered.

Miguel entered and walked slowly until he heard the door close behind him. Then he took a few quick strides to her and took her into his arms and kissed her passionately.

Being the Captain, being the one in command... she rather liked the way he took charge. The possessive way his arms locked around her, his lips claimed hers. She responded by pressing her body into his, returning the kiss with an equal, willing passion of her own.

His slid his hands down her back to her ass, which he squeezed, before placing them on her hips and then lifting her up off the floor. All without breaking their kiss.

Her legs rose and twined around his hips, arms tightening around his neck holding onto him.

He carried her easily as he moved around the room, at one point moving them to her desk and knocking some of the old fashioned books onto the floor as he placed her on it.

Still kissing one another, she murmured “Don’t damage my books..” and then added, “The desk? Really?”

"Truth is I really don't know the layout to your quarters so I needed a moment to get my bearings." he said as he removed his shirt and then began to remove hers.

Rhea just chuckled at his words, it wasn’t as if her quarters were that large after all. She helped him remove her jacket and undershirt, revealing the white lace of her bra against her still tanned skin, the pale cross-cross of scars more visible on her bronzed skin still kissed by the Italian sun.

He let out a soft moan as he leaned in and began to kiss her newly exposed skin.

“There are more comfortable places in here than the top of a desk..” she pointed out.

"That's good... cause I think we'll be using most of them." he told her as he kissed her neck as his hands moved up and behind her and removed her bra. Then he picked her back up and carried her to her room, kissing and licking her neck as they made the journey to her bed.
