Notification of NJP

Posted on Sat Oct 16, 2021 @ 8:31pm by Commander Cullen Walker & Senior Chief Petty Officer Samantha Summers & Fleet Captain Rhea Kennit

1,243 words; about a 6 minute read

Mission: Archangel
Location: Brig
Timeline: (Fill in later)

Walker sent a message to the brig and got up from the Command chair. This had to be taken care of. He leaned down to speak to the Captain, "I'm going to deliver that notification. I will be back." If she still had Borg sensors, she could tell he was calmer, but years of experience could probably tell her that.

“Don’t take too long.” the Captain advised. “Things will be getting busy all too quickly..”

Leaving the bridge, he went to the turbo lift and entered the deck manually for some discretion. The turbo lift door closed and went to the deck in question." He stopped with Vulcan security officer, "Who is in the brig?"

She answered, "Johnson, sir."

Since Johnson was male, he responded, "Fall in." She turned and followed. Walker entered the brig with the Vulcan following. "Computer, show me in the bridge." He needed that for official records.

Johnson spoke to Summers, "On your feet Inmate. Hands on the back wall. Feet shoulder width apart." While the brig officer was speaking, Walker replicated a 20th Century jumpsuit, other garments, and slide on shoes. Walker went over to the control panel and opened up the feed to the Captain's chair. This way the Captain could just open the feed without reentering her command code. Then he used his code to notify her chair console. This required a command witness, most of the command crew were overtly occupied.

Summers raised her right eyebrow for an second, then placed her hands on the back wall and spread her feet apart.

Walker had previously ordered that she get the full inmate treatment. He approached the force field. As soon as she was in place. "Lower the force field." The security Officer lowered it, "T'pek, if you would."

The Female Vulcan went in and kicked Summers’ leg a further apart to reduce her balance, and make it harder to fight back if that was her intention. T'pek proceeded to pat Summers down and check her for weapons and contraband.

Summers looked back at T'pek and then spread her middle fingers apart. " Greetings, T'Pek; Vulcan honors us with your presence. Ask what you will. "

T'pek just nodded and stood at ease.

Walker walked in and sat at the desk chair, "Have a seat Summers. I'm here to notify you that as soon as this current situation is resolved, you will be getting a time and date for an NJP meet, ie Captain's Mast. One of three people will be running it. Your Department head, Arashi, myself, or the Captain. The Captain hasn't decided yet. That being said, I believe you made a mistake based on a lack of information. Because we were on an open channel with the Klingons when you had your excited utterance, they heard it. I'm working on dealing with that too. They are not happy. There was also an admiral present. You're very lucky you aren't being court martialled."

Summers nodded her head. " I believe that the Captain and others at the meeting will be un-biased. I know whom I am, and what I have to atone for - an foolish mistake. "

Walker sighed, "You're enlisted. You aren't going to know everything. I was an Officer and a Department head. I didn't know everything. I'm going to tell you this. This ship gets dragged under the umbrella of Intelligence a lot. That means you may know even less. Example, we have two Department head missing. One of this is like a brother to me. The other one is very close to someone that is my sister in my religion. In front of my sister, you had your excited utterance. Another thing, my mother's baby cousin is on one of those Klingon ships. The Captain saved you from my sister and I's temper. We weren't the only people you made unhappy. People the Admiral is very close to were also kidnapped. These are the things enlisted don't always know. You have to learn some self control."

Summers nodded. " Sir, I blew it,' and know it. If there's anything I can do to 'calm things down' I will do it. "

He looked at her, "Officially, you're here until we get back to dock. The deal I'm working with the Klingons, you're going to get some extended exercise time. I can't go into details until the Captain signs off on the deal." We were going to need a strike team set up soon. The Klingons wanted Summers on it. Walker had to make sure there wasn't a premeditation plan for her to die by friendly fire. "Until then, you get to go in the Modified cell next door. The Klingons have requested you be in something less cozy than this."

Summers nodded then asked; " Sir, if it were possible, before I head to the ' modified cell, ' may I have some time to meditate? "

Walker looked at her as he stood up, "You will have ten minutes to meditate. Then you will change. I will be replacing Johnson with T'pek." Any male Security Officer who made a Female Inmate strip in front of them, outside of staffing issues, was up to no good and in violation of several policies. "Depending on how you behave until your extended exercise time and on said time, has bearing at Captain's Mast. Johnson will be outside the brig itself. " He looked at T'pek, "Call him back in to do the escort." The cell was less than two meters from this one. He had absolutely no doubt that T'pek could do it on her own, but he needed I's dotted and T's crosses. He and T'pek left, the force field went back up.

Summers sat down on the cell floor and crossed her legs, and slowed her breathing and began to relax; at least best she could.

The cell next door had a standard entry and force field. This was had a hideous steel toilet and sink combo. The water pressure was horrible. There was a shower head and drain, both having horrible water pressure. There were two modesty panels. That was it. The bed had a two in thick mattress that was almost as bad as sleeping on a sparring mat. Walker replicated a bedding pack. 1 flat sheet, 1 pillow case, 1 blanket, 1 towel, none of it was high quality. He replicated her an indigent pack. 1 toothbrush, 1 toothpaste, 1 soap, 1 deodorant, and 1 roll of the cheapest toilet paper on file. This was not someplace you wanted to spend any time in.

Summers raised an eyebrow and turned to look at Johnson. " Well, it somewhat reminds me of an hotel the folks and I stayed at once." She sighed and sat down.

Walker posted Johnson outside for now. "Computer. Show me out of the brig. Show a staffing change. I replaced Johnson with T'pek, reason Modesty. Alert Arashi to the change. He went back to the bridge and sat in his seat next to the Captain just in time to get forwarded a message from the Klingon ship. "They agreed to the majority of terms. They won't just immediately shoot her when they provide back up to the landing party. They wish to negotiate further after the mission is over." He didn't like the word negotiate. Klingon negotiations end with blood, bruises, broken bones, and occasionally death. "I suspect we should not let her be alone with anyone from the Empire for the foreseeable."

“Agreed.” Was all the Captain said.
